The word tumbled in Jasiri's head as she backed away from the pale mare, grinning wickedly and breathing heavily. Mariael had been a worthy adversary. Although the silver towered over her, numerous scratches and gashes covered her body and stung in the cold. Most of them weren't too bad, but she knew a large gash over her shoulder wouldn't heal prettily. She was sure the land has been used against her more than once throughout their fight.

Jasiri still felt disappointment, though. The other stallion and mare had left, which she was half pleased about, but they hadn't stayed close enough to watch. Her eyes scanned over the horizon in search of the other pale horses. She couldn't spot them, but their coloring was perfect to blend in. She wanted to see their faces fall at knowing their leader had failed to win a battle she commenced. She wanted to make sure they all knew their places now.

But for right now, the draft would have to focus on the pale mare. Her ears stayed buried in her blonde mane as her eyes flicked back down. "The truth remains," she repeated the words slowly, twisting her head to stare at the mare with one brown eye. "A visitor rules your home, now." Her grin twitched before she broke out into cruel laughter, gasping for air as she used it all up again.

She managed to calm herself down, to keep the laughter and her stretching grin repressed. She did feel bad for the mare; it was evident she loved her home from how considerably she fought. But then the hilarity Jasiri felt to even think about the shame welling up in the pale mare came rushing back, and she released her tugging smile to let it grow into a wide grin again.

"Queen Jasiri. That suits me perfectly, don't you think?"
