The young mare snorted with disgust. It seemed as though age and wisdom were gifts given to a select few and the gift bag had run empty when it came to the mares of the islands. Had none of them yearned for the power to be able to take their fate into their own hands and use it once they had it? Had none of them contemplated the extent of their reach or the force with which they could wield their strength? Centuries and generations of captivity seemed to have bred the intelligent fire out of them all. She saw the sparks in them, but it seemed to burn to nothing.
In her it just burned hotter. Her frustration with the weakness and the restraints over forged the ties until they were brittle and crushed to dust under her hooves. She reared blindly back and cracked her head forward like a whip to smack against the other mare’s face (yes, so totally just tried to headbutt Jasiri). She did not care what pain lanced through her own skull. The reverberations of the impact were drowned out by the blood drum in her ears.
”Fuck you and your ‘guard’.” She snapped with much of the same force that had been behind her head blow. ”Come find me when you have something worthwhile.”
The rules of ‘capture’ were simple, and the mare understood them. She turned away from Jasiri with a final kick of her hind hooves, her right white socked reach stretching further once again for the draft’s face. Just because she was going to be held here, much like she had been held in the Peak, did not mean she was going to make it easy on her ‘captor’. The mare would soon learn an unwilling prisoner was far more troublesome than anything she could have been cursed with.
As she walked coolly away, soft ears twitched back to monitor the mare’s movements. It would be foolish to try to run so soon after capture. She was tired, and her head hurt. No. She would stay for a while. Stay and wait. This world was still her’s.
