GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
Live through this lie

Was I left behind?
Someone tell me, tell me I survived.

I study the pale colored stallion as he voices his feelings for the first time. To me, anyway. He is honest and his angst is expected. I merely bob my head while I continue to give him the once over. I'm not sure I'd be happy to be here either, if the roles were reversed. I could lecture him about how he could be worse off. He could be homeless with Ostara to still care for. He could have ended up in a place like the Lagoon, which tends to harden good souls like his. Samhain has a lot going for him. I know the Prairie is merely a stepping stone for him. He's meant for something greater.

"I don't doubt your loyalty, Samhain. You are of great value to this herd." I say with the simple flick of my thick and wavy tail. I let my gaze settle on the herd in the distance. Many continue to graze peacefully. "I just hope you find the solace you're looking for."

I am grateful as the conversation shifts to more pragmatic matters. I listen to Samhain's feedback about the herd in the Bay and nod in agreement. "I've known Nephilim for many years." I choose not to air my worries I have about him. Now that his daughter is in charge, I hope that the reign the Bay remains strong for some time. If Nephilim and his family were to disappear again, and abandon another one of my family members through their own selfishness, then that would be on me. I am choosing to give our years-old trust and kinship another chance. When Samhain notes his high hopes for Paradiso, I smile. "I hope so. He's a good fellow, but could use some confidence."

The conversation shifts again and this time we're talking about Nova. Given Samhain's relationship with Nephilim's family in the Bay, I again choose to keep the details of what happened between Nova and Nephilim to myself. "Vita Nova. She was born here. She spent some time in the Bay but has since gone missing." I say, my eyes settling on the stallion next to me again. "I believe she is still here among the islands. She's not the type to set off on her own. So she must have settled with another herd."
