DANCE OF THORNS: ANY

Jasiri ambled back down the mountainside, not having as many problems this time. Although there were a few more dead ends, she could easily turn around on those trails and once even chanced sliding down to get to the main path. Her hooves and lower legs were covered with dust by the time she reached the bottom. It looked almost natural next to her heavy roan markings. The white speckles spread mainly across her neck and body, but also sprinkled down onto her legs. Her face was the only part clear of the white flecks.

The silver mare trotted towards the waterfall, then changed her mind and doubled back to head towards the beach. She didn't come to a stop until she could hear and see the surging ocean. She dipped her head down to start grazing, one ear flicked towards the waves and the other swiveling to catch the sounds of the other horses and wildlife around her. It was a peaceful evening.

The autumn colors stretched nicely against the dusk sky. She admired the darker shades of reds and oranges on the leaves. She hadn't ever been fond of trees, but she missed their presence in her tundra. The lack of cover in her home meant the wind bit fiercely and the cold settled quickly. A large herd would be the best protection from the elements. Her eyes traveled past the trees and to the pink- and purple-hued sky. She could still pick out the blue background, but night was rapidly approaching.

She watched the stars start to appear in the sky, then focused back on her grazing. She wanted to be well prepared for winter in the Inlet.
