The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Grey Wind

The cold was coming to the pack, and it would only be a matter of time before the snow appeared in the lands. Some would be worried about finding proper shelter and adequate food to survive the harsher months, but the winter was not something that every bothered Grey Wind. The alpha of Abendrot had been born in a land where it was often cold. His pelt was thick and heavy, protecting him from the cold. Besides his coat he made sure to stay in good physical shape. His form was filled out with powerful muscles from all of his constant training. One would never be able to tell that he almost lost the use of one his limbs from a fight many months ago. His gait was normal again, even if it did pain him sometimes, but he never let that show. Showing pain and injury would show weakness. And the alpha of a powerful pack could not be weak. The last leader before him was the strongest varg that he knew, and Grey Wind knew that he would never fill the spot that Kershov had left. They were two different males, two different wolves, and two different leaders.

The large male was lost in thought as he did a border patrol. He made sure to stop here and there to mark his scent more strongly, making sure that anyone passing by would know that these lands were owned and well protected. Even though Abendrot may not be as active as it once was, it was still filled with strong warriors within its territory. Grey Wind was not the type of alpha that demanded to know all the business of his pack members. If they wanted to be by themselves outside of pack meetings and training sessions that was fine with him. He trusted that in a time of need his warriors would be there to defend him and the pack. But things had been very quiet in Blossom as of late. It did not look like there would be anything to defend the pack from in the near future.

Yellow orbs kept a lookout for any suspicious activity near or around his lands. Grey Wind did not expect to see anything, but one could never be sure. Even when it did not seem that he was paying attention, he always was. His father had taught him how to always be alert, audettes alert to any sound, nares alert to every passing smell, and eyes always alert to what was around him. That stuck with the male as he did his rounds early in the cool morning, wanting to make sure that his pack was always safe. The brute liked to do his first border patrol before the sun rose, not wanting the pack to be surprised by anything while they were asleep, so he was not expecting to run into anyone. But the wolves within Abendrot were a unique breed, it was what made them such a good pack to be a part of. So he remained vigilant in the early morning.

"Fight back,"He snarled.
