Oro-Medonte Yard Firsts


Four Common Night hawks spotted searching and swooping for insects at the top of the tree line at 6:15am.

Three male black-throated blue warblers eating in the darkened portion of the forest, up and down fallen logs and in the tree saplings. Unmistakable white patch at base of primaries.

And, I believe, a female Philadelphia Vireo as evidenced by a short bill, light gray crown and dark lores. This bird was hawking for insects and caterpillars in the middle level of the tall trees amongst Virginia Creeper, younger maple trees and tall black-berry bushes.

Alas, no pictures! (Yet!)
