AND SO IT BEGINS

YEVA
For a few moments, having Božena shift to her side gave Yeva a little more confidence and she dared to hope that perhaps they might all become friends by the end of their conversation (despite the complete failure of a first impression). The large pale stallion that had seemed so calm before was now locked in some kind of intense, staring silence that might have made Yeva uneasy if she was not currently distracted by the two other horses. The gold and white stallion winked at her and again, she wasn’t quite sure if she was in on the joke or the butt of it so merely gave a small smile in return.

When she inquired after the names of the two stallions, the paint answered first. Psychedelic, or Psych, he told them. She’d not heard such a name before, but then, she’d never heard the names Kendry or Božena either (nor had she heard Valter or Nuru before meeting her last companions). Before she could make any response, however, the pale stallion stepped forward with eyes and words only for Božena.

The few moments where her confidence grew and her embarrassment subsided were undone in that instant and were quickly replaced by a new uneasiness. With Kendry only seeing Bozena, the little mare felt as if she was intruding on something private, and that if he might try to crowd the black mare, he’d trample her in the process (as she appeared to be invisible to him now). Yeva shrunk back, both mentally and physically by sidestepping a couple of pace with her head up and eyes briefly flashing their whites. Had Psych not raised his voice a little more than he had too, she might not have even heard him.

Recovering some of her composure, her gaze shifted to the smaller of the two stallions, ”Um….” she frowned, glancing quickly to Božena and the back to Psych as she tried to decide if it was a good idea or not. She trusted Božena’s judgement, but the black mare was currently preoccupied by a very intense Kendry. She had been so good too Yeva though, the bay mare was sure if she should leave her alone with the perlino – not that she could do anything to stop him if he tried anything. ”Is far?” she finally settled on asking, perhaps if they two large horses were still in view, it would not be so bad.
