Her thick winter coat had allowed her to be only mildly chilled now that winter was in full swing. With forest green eyes searching the white crags, the female's nose worked in overdrive. It wasn't that Amber was hungry, it's just after fighting through the snow, with is snapping crust, she had no desire to be jumped. She'd use her eyes, but the wind was beginning to pick up, and the howling of nature was too loud and overpowering for the she-wolf to handle after such a long day. Even now, the clouds taunted her with the possibilities of more snow... or frozen rain. Her one true winter enemy.
Blinking, it was as if her eyes were playing tricks on her. They told her, up ahead, as the snow was falling down, that there was a steel grey wolf, a pup in size, up ahead. Her nose told her there was food as well. So there was a steel colored pup in the snow with food. Why on earth was it out here, and where were it's parents? Surely no she-wolf would let a pup wander this far off. Moving her paws quicker, Amber covered the distance, plowing through the snow. Valuable energy wasted, but the pup might need help staying warm. Within sight, she watched the child crawl into shelter, but she doesn't slow her pace.
Arriving at the hiding place, the she-wolf lowered her muzzle and gazed in, knowing if she wanted, she'd fit inside.
"Little one, why are you out here at a time like this?" Her voice was a bit rough, but there was a gentleness there as well.
