Northern Shrike??

Saw a gray and white bird approximately the size of a blue jay and appeared to have a mask, but only seen it for a short time as it flew in low towards the feeders and into the mix of feeding birds. The underside of the tail had white blotches and the head had a dark top. It came up empty handed, but I later noticed there was one house sparrow that was looking a little worse for the wear and hid in the lilac bushes and wouldn't fly away when I went out to check the feeders. Could this have been a northern shrike at this time of year?
