The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
This is no ordinary love

Nova took easy, slow moving strides across the sand to reach Evren, one grey ear lobe flicking forward and back as she notices how the painted filly's expression brightened when she realized Nova was paying her some attention. The grey splashed mare stood idly in front of her, the damp strands of her dark tail flicking low and heavy over her haunches. Nova made no attempt to hide her judgmental stare. Evren was pretty, slim and loudly marked like her mother. She looked athletic like her father. And thus far, she seemed smart enough to keep to herself.

Vita Nova snorts when the mare replies meekly to her question. She assumed quickly that Evren probably didn't know anything that Nova didn't already know about their family and what was going on lately. For a second, Nova's heart sunk. She was about to turn and leave the filly to her own devices when Evren spoke again, this time her voice and tone more deliberate and coy. Nova couldn't suppress her smile, and instead, she let it grow foolishly wide across her lips. Perhaps the young girl was more worthwhile than Nova had initially given her credit for.

"It was fine." She said after a short span of silence passed between them. "I went to see my family on Luthien. In the Prairie." She explained freely. Nova allowed her gaze to drift out over the sand dunes as the remaining light from the day began to cast dark and hazy shadows over the land. Koray would be looking for them soon, once the stars overhead began to appear.

"Very good, by the way." She added, eyeing the filly hard now, but offering her a wry smirk. "I thought I was extra careful." The shade was beginning to set on Evren's face as the dusk faded into night. She wanted to ask if Koray had asked Evren to keep an eye on her, but she bit her tongue. Instead, she searched for something more chatty to say. "I'm sorry that your parents have been away for so long." She says warily, clearly uncomfortable. "But I guess Koray isn't so bad."

Nova had thought a lot about the stallion lately. Perhaps almost too much. Their last squabble here at the oasis had left a poor taste in her mouth. Initially, of course, she was livid with him. But the more she thought about it, and especially after she visited Shamwari, she realized how much she had contributed to this problem with her sour attitude too. Koray had been right about one thing, at least. The Desert was her home now, and Koray, Evren and the rest of the lot was her family now. Perhaps she should start acting like it.
