Many years ago, an old consultant told us that an eye registar in the very eye centre removed the wrong of a child with retinoblastoma. He was so guilt ridden he jumped off the building and died. The juniors in the room were shocked to hear that and I tried to lighten the mood "He could have defended it in court by saying that he wanted to prevent sympathetic ophthalmia" Unfortunately, the joke failed and the consultant stared daggers at me
