That is a great photo of the hawk that hit your window and shows all the features to help you identify the hawk on your own. Size, shape and tail length is an accipter and the yellow eye tells you it is an immature or first-year bird. So is it a Sharp-shinned Hawk or a Cooper's Hawk. You can't see the breast but you can see the crown and nape plus a great view of the tail. The tail is long and thin with a rounded tip with the outside tail feathers shorter than the middle feathers not squared off like that of a sharp-shinned Hawk. The tail pattern is thick dark bands with a fairly thick white terminal band not a thin white terminal band of a Sharp-shinned. Also note the heavier shanks on the legs. Replies:
