Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

LEILANI "Lani" four, femme, loveless,
homeless, Joey's hawaiian star

The grass felt like heaven. The smells brought me back home. The sweet smell of the ocean, the floral smells that overwhelmed at times, and the smell of the wild fruits. A simple smile laced my lips, eyes shutting as I rubbed my head into the grasses. I loved the smell the dew gave me, and thus, I would take every chance to rub myself into it. Never doubt that. I ignored the sounds of the voices in my head. My soul was speaking to the other spirits that were floating in this realm, stuck by the unknown forces that held their spirits entrapped in silence. My soul reached out to them more times than I chose to let it.

Being in a new land, I didn’t speak to the spirits aloud, not yet, not in the open. I wasn’t quite ready for the ramifications that would come from that. I wasn’t about to get labeled as an outcast in the beginning of my time here. No, that was not going to happen. I heard voices then, real voices. Multiple, sounding as if they were arguing over something, I wasn’t going to spy and figure out the words, no, that was not my way of doing things. If I was meant to hear it, I would. A quiet sound of an animal dying caught my ears, and I screwed my eyes shut, ignoring the sound. I had been raised to thank the gods above before taking a life, and that by doing so first, the animal would never suffer pain. So the sounds of an animal dying in pain wretched my heart.

The sound died, and the voices were there. Louder, almost as if the wolves were closer. Soon, I heard a voice speak near me. I cracked open my lava hued eyes, bright orange in the middle with a rich red ringed outer color. I blinked my eyes a few times letting the morning haze slip from my eyes. Laid on my back, my head resting in the soft grasses, I looked at the male before me. His darker shape than mine stood with the hare at his feet. I resisted the urge for my nose to wrinkle. “It’s a kind offer, but I’m quite alright, thank you.” I spoke softly, looking to the hare for a moment.

I was taught to praise the gods before taking a life, thus causing its end painless, and to eat of a carcass where I have not done so before it’s life ended, would cause my soul great harm.” Whether he would understand or not, was up to him.
