- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
Live through this lie

Was I left behind?
Tell me, tell me I survived.

I waded through the soggy earth at a cautious two-beat trot. My hooves sink into the moist and crumbling ground with every stride. It only fuels the worry that's twisting and churning in my gut. Nevertheless, two copper-colored lobes remained pricked forward and at attention as I navigate through puddles that have grown to be the size of lakes where one hill ends and the next begins. Finally, I spy the familiar spotted frame of my half-brother in the distance.

I return his call with one of my own, a hoarse but tender whinny rising from the depths of my throat. I breathe a heavy sigh before I kick my frame into motion again to reach him. I am both relieved and overwhelmed to see Paradiso after such a long time. So much had happened since his absence. My heat beat quickens the closer I get to him as I realize I will likely have to repeat the ordeal with Kasabian and tell him of the weak condition of our mother.

"Paradiso." I saw aloud, my voice loud and sharp over the sound of the pitter-patter of the seemingly endless rain. "You don't know how good it is to see you."

I nicker eagerly as I approach him, walking quickly in a full circle around him as I take in his condition. He hardly looks like the stringy colt he was when he left the Prairie for the Forest. I can see in his eyes that he has traveled from Luthien and seen new things. I arch my neck to let my nose reach for his shoulder in a friendly tap, but freeze when I see him pin his ears and whip his head high over his withers. I snort once, twice, in bewilderment and stamp a hoof into the soggy ground.

"You seem well, Shamwari, despite the rain." He says coldly in my direction, but his gaze never meets my own. I nicker again, this time the concern is laced in my tone. "Much better than mum these days."

He snorts at me in return, his sooty-colored ears are still buried underneath his mane.

I don't know what to say. My gaze never leaves his hardened face. I snort again and swipe my soaking wet tail against my haunches. It lands under my left hip with a definite thwack.

"Paradiso -- I'm sorry. You were no longer in the Forest and I didn't know how to find you." I explained. "I will never forgive myself for what happened to Evaline... For not taking care of Kasabian myself when I had the chance."

Paradiso shot me a stern look from the corner of his eye. "So you weren't even the one who saved her? Who did?" He demanded.

I allow another long and low exhale to escape my whiskered lips. "Gabbar of the Dunes alerted me that Evaline had been stolen by a stallion from the Lagoon. I went with Gabbar and Valve to rescue her." I explained. "Valve was the one to... She is... She cares about her, Paradiso. The Dunes is where she wants to be. With her and those children."

Paradiso turned roughly to face the other way.

"I don't expect you to forgive me, but if it matters, Evaline has." I say, feeling guilty the second the words leave my mouth. "Where have you been? Vita Nova and I have been trying desperately trying to find you."

Upon hearing his sister's name, Paradiso swung back viciously to face me. He barred his teeth in a defensive stance I've never seen him take before. "So what, you've got the whole family back together again? As if nothing ever happened?" As if you're not the one who sent us all away in the first place?"

My own ears pin instinctively but only for a second. I back several steps before I spy Bri roaming in the distance. I squint as I try to make out the young foal by her side in the distance, and I can feel my chest tighten. Paradiso notices the change in my demeanor and his gaze follows my own. We say nothing to one another as we make our way toward the herd in the distance. Paradiso picks up a trot and snorts as he moves away from me, nickering to Bri with a wide smile as he approaches.

"Bri, I- wow. It is so good to see you. And who is this?" He says happily. "Congratulations!"

I hover apprehensively in the distance.
