Wye Marsh Spring Raptor Review - June 18th 10am-12pm Posted on May 16, 2017 at 07:14:57 PM by Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre
Each spring and summer many residents and cottagers are fortunate to come into contact with nesting raptors. Whether it’s a local Osprey nest on a familiar lake or a merlin pair setting up residence in a black spruce, it is only natural to have concerns over the nest and the bird’s success in raising their young.
This June 18th from 10:00am-12:00pm the Wye Marsh is offering a unique and informative workshop with a focus on identification and conservation of Ontario’s nesting raptors. This two hour workshop will discuss how to differentiate between various raptors’ nests and the types of habitat they require for success. Other topics to be discussed will be:
-How to correctly identify a particular nest by location and structure
-How to conserve a nest and area to ensure the best chance at successful rearing of young
-What you can do to encourage raptors to nest of your property
-Safety concerns around a nest for humans and birds alike
Cost: $30+HST for non-members; $19.50+HST for members.
