As I approached, the shewolf remained as she was with her bodice lowered to the ground. Perhaps it would have given another wolf pause - to approach an unknown entity who was poised at the perfect angle to attack - but my cursory measure of her as I moved into range gave me the impression she posed no immediate threat. And so I stood confidently before her, diadem angled just so to allow me to defend myself should things turn against me. Though she did not give off an air of overt friendliness, she also did not make me feel suspicious of her intentions. Thus, I greeted her as I would any newcomer along the outskirts of my pack lands. After a moment of measured silence, she shifted and rose to her feet before dipping her stature slightly.
She introduced herself, and I nodded my head in acknowledgement. "Likewise," I answered in kind. My first impression of her seemed to solidify into place as she cut straight to the point of her arrival upon the boundaries of Spirane. I could certainly appreciate that. "A pack is always in need of proficient hunters - mine is no different," I said, pausing for a moment. "The pack will hunt soon, you are welcome to join us and prove your merit." It was an offer, an opportunity for Satinka to show her skills not only to me, but to those who she may very well come to call pack. Whether that final decision would be made yet today, or further down the road, remained to be seen.
But there was more to being a pack wolf than the hunt. Though Spirane's numbers had not been among the greatest in Moladion, never fully recovering from the abysmal interruption to my reign, there were still many wolves that called the mountain home. And while there were those who chose to keep more to themselves, the majority of Spirane's wolves had developed a camaraderie between them. So it was not unusual that I might wish to get to know more about Satinka than her capability of as a hunter before welcoming her into the fold. "Walk with me, Satinka," I said, phrased as an invitation rather than a question - pivoting so as to invite her within the realm to walk beside me and see more of the place that she might very well come to call home.
"I was born within the peaks of these mountains, and I am the third generation of my family to rule the range. Someday, my daughter will take my place as Protector of these lands. As I am sure you noticed, our pack is not immense in numbers, but neither are we miniscule. There are ranks available to be worked towards for the wolf who seeks purpose." I spoke of myself and of the pack by way of creating conversation, to give something to her in hopes that she would return the exchange. I wished to know more about her. "Though I have never wandered beyond the keeps of Moladion, I have heard many tales of foreign lands. Perhaps you would indulge me with another, Satinka?" Mahogany eyes looked to her, my intentions plain upon my regal features.
