i don't work there and reading the rest of the comments on this site i get the feeling its super nepotistic, but just having a doctorate doesn't make you a good candidate to be a consultant. I know people who have phds that I definitely wouldn't let do even a phaco on a family member. You may have a doctorate but hands as dextrous as feet. Unless the wife in question has been appointed to an academic post, then maybe its because she's an awesome surgeon? or fabulous teacher? I'm not saying she didn't get appointed just because of her marriage certificate, but to imply that just having a doctorate makes you a better consultant prospect is la la land. Replies:
