The confident vehemence with which Oswin spoke to him took him aback somewhat. After he had thrashed her the last time they met, he hadn't expected to see her again. Yet here she was, trespassing in his home once again, in the middle of the night nonetheless. She was a fighter, he had to give her that. But her persistence was annoying. He rolled his eyes to the side, trying to subtly check whether the mare's loud voice had woken Vita Nova, but he could see nothing stirring in the gloom of the night yet.

A yawn tickled at his throat then, and he let it overcome him, opening his mouth wide in Oswin's face to display full rows of blunt yellow teeth. "You're deluded. You're the one who intruded in my home. For all I knew you were trying to lure Vita Nova away. I was protecting my home and my herd; any stallion would have done the same." Oswin was lucky she had caught him when he wanted to do nothing but go back to sleep; he was too tired to be angry. But then, what if that was exactly her plan? What if she had wanted to catch him off-guard so that he was easier to take on this time?

He snorted. "I'm bored of you now. Go away so I can get some sleep. I can kick your ass some again other time."
