REVOLVE WITHIN.

Ah, love.

Love was the perfect explanation for Gael’s behavior. Only love could begat a fruitless search for someone whose presence hadn’t been felt in the longest time. A memory. A ghost. If he believed in love, then he believed in ghosts as well. Belief, like hope, was also powerful. Valve respected it as a kind of motivation and by extension she understood how love could move him, or anyone else.

Valve listened intently to Gael explain how he and Corinth came to meet in the Inlet and how it was so happenstance. She found it curious that this was what he chose to tell her first. The black mare had never been one to leave much to chance. To think that chance had been responsible for Gael finding this mare whom he loved seemed so unlikely. There had to be reasons beyond this simple random occurrence that had led to this feeling, and Valve wanted to know precisely how that happened. She wanted to bottle this desire and dispense it for whatever means she deemed appropriate.

"No," Valve responded, not wishing to divulge more than the simplest answer. In truth, Valve had never been in love, but she wasn’t exactly keen on sharing that with him. At least, not yet.

“But you do.”

She paused, letting the silence hang between them for a moment as she studied the sadness that shone behind his dark eyes.

“Are you sure it was chance that brought you together?”
