Nyazik gave a brief incline of her head, her icy blue eyes showing her recognition and approval of Valve’s justice. She listened carefully as the black mare continued and could not miss the shift in the mare’s tone. Nyazik’s muscles tightened ever so slightly, yet she held her composure, just as she held Valve’s gaze. Her ears leaned forward, keen not to miss something important.
When Valve posed the question to her, ”how do you intend to prove yourself”, . Nyazik only took a brief moment to consider her word choice. “Quite simply, I don’t” she answered evenly and honestly, “Mares such as ourselves do not need to prove ourselves to anyone, even each other.”. While Nyazik admired Valve’s decision making and leadership, she did not strive for her approval – it would be welcome if given, but it was not a necessity. As far as Nyazik was concerned, they were equals. She was confident that Valve would recognise her as an asset, if not, then that was the dark mare’s loss.
