A pang of guilt and embarrassment rang through the brute's mind as Huntress apologized. He was sure he looks pathetic and small, like a lame pup who couldn't fend for himself. Which, thinking on it, was a very accurate representation of his current physical and mental state. Maverick remained quiet as she made her introductions, nodding to the dragon when Huntress addressed her. This certainly wasn't what he imagined his reintroduction to civilization to be like. Although, to be fair, he hadn't exactly imagined a time after his sulking and self destruction period was over, so in all actuality, this was better than what he had been doing for the past few months. Huntress seemed like an alright fey and he was certainly thankful that he had ran into her and not somebody with less than honorable intentions. He was vulnerable and weak and yet somehow she did not make him feel afraid. Yes, he was very lucky indeed.

"Well," he began. "It is a pleasure meeting both of you. But I really wouldn't want to impose on you, ma'am." He glanced around at his surroundings, feeling the weight of defeat begin to settle upon his heart. He didn't want to appear helpless but, well, he definitely couldn't help himself at this moment. Anxiety began to build as his mind caught up to the situation he had gotten himself into. Not only was he very injured and very helpless, but those injuries meant he would have to spend the night alone with his thoughts, running until passing out no longer an option. Maverick's tail twitched nervously at the thought and his mind drifted momentarily. His train of thought derailed, headed towards a much darker route as he often did when he stopped his constant movement. A few seconds went by before the wolf snapped back to attention, his eyes returning to the femme's. He gave Huntress a shy smile. "However, I would much appreciate it if you could point me in the direction of a relatively safe place to stay?" He chuckled nervously. "I'm not exactly in the best way nor am I likely capable of defending myself in any event of emergency."
