GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

BRIENNE

Brienne turned her head to meet Shamwari's dark eyes at his question, and shook her head, regret in her expression. She turned her gaze back to Melusine and looked her over. The filly seemed healthy and unharmed despite their separation and the time she had apparently spent all alone; Brienne was thankful for that, but nonetheless felt a swell of protectiveness come over her.

It did not matter that the filly was practically old enough to fend for herself; Brienne silently vowed that she would take Melusine under her wing and protect her as if she was her own from now on. The carefree affectionate touches Melusine gave her served only to cement this in Brienne's mind; she felt a warm bloom of maternal instinct clutching at her chest which she was helpless against.

The filly seemed largely unconcerned about her mother's disappearance, however, and when she turned the conversation to Brienne and Jabari, the palomino mare could not help but marvel at her resilience. With a kind smile on her crooked muzzle, Brienne turned her head and motioned toward the patchwork colt that lay in the grass a short distance away, his belly rising and falling in a steady rhythm while dawn broke over the horizon behind him.

Her blue gaze found Melusine's face and gave the filly silent plea to let him sleep. Now that the girl had returned, there would be plenty of time for the siblings to bond.
