Sleep now. Travel tomorrow. Psychedelic felt himself relax at the mare’s words with a firm, agreeing nod. It was good to be back at the islands, no matter how much he was risking by being here. The Mainlands were anyone’s game and he’d grown tired of traveling all over the place just trying to figure out where he and Talya could remain safest. The older she grew, the more band stallions wanted her and assumed she was Psychedelic’s band. He was tired of the fights, tired of hearing Talya whinny in feared confusion if she was ever driven away from his side. So even if he had a terrible pinch in his gut, and even if he felt pulled back to the Lagoon (where he honestly, truly belonged), he had to remind himself this would be good. He could settle somewhere where no one knew him, make himself scarce if someone came who might recognize him, and live out his days with Talya (and now Aurora, it would seem) without worry.

A small part of him felt suffocated at the thought, but Psychedelic brushed it aside. He’d have to keep doing it the longer he lived here, he knew. He was used to keeping his own council and not following anyone’s rule, it was going to be an interesting transition to follow someone else’s laws and keep his head down. He glanced toward Talya, who’d yawned and settled in near Aurora, happy, sleepy smile on her face that was slowly lessening as she fell further toward a deep, needed rest. Sometimes he hated her for how much he loved her, but overall, he did love his daughter.

You really think you can keep this up? Stay away from the Lagoon? Play Daddy Dearest forever?

Psychedelic felt the doubt crawling in his mind and sighed, cocking his back hoof and shifting his weight as he tried to relax.

You’re really going to live out the rest of your life stuck in some territory, hiding, just watching your daughter grow up and never letting her go? You haven’t thought this out very far, have you? We both know you better than this, Psych. Bob isn’t going to last long.

The answering argument, futile though it may be, was on his tongue, but his eyes shifted back to the two young mares in his company and he worried if he spoke, if he answered, he might rouse them awake. It was best he slept too; he’d need to be fully alert tomorrow to handle whatever happened once they reached Luthien. Dropping his head, Psychedelic forced the muscles in his body to relax, closed his eyes and tried his best to fall asleep – though there would always be a piece of him on alert as he’d been since Talya had first stuck herself to his hip.

I figured it was good if you posted first in the Forest, then I follow with Bob&Talya,
that way Aurora can suggest the Forest and he'll go along with it???
If that works for you! If not, I can start the thread in the Forest! :D
