Loss if vision in young diabetic

Loss if vision in young diabetic

Diabetic 17 year old girl with very poor control of diabetes, with seversl episodes of ketoacidosis presented with reduced vision in both eyes, va 6/36 both eyes, she only git back ground diabetic
retinopathy with no macular odema, mormal optic disc
Could it be posterior ischemic optic neuropathy secondary to diabetes? Would it possible at this age?
Any thoughts
