unfettered will fare the fenris wolf

Green eyes watch the strange mare curiously. He does not need her to tell him it is not a good idea to interfere, but he appreciated it all the same. It was proof that they could agree about something at least, even if it was something so simple. If they could agree on one thing, perhaps there were other things they would see eye to eye on too. Her brief smile was pleasant, he observed, even if it was still accompanied by a superior attitude.

When the palomino stallion turns her question around, he studies her reaction carefully. Evidently it was not something she had considered, and it took her a few moments to think about it. She spoke of someone named Inanna and of “our way”, “our” referring to the culture in which she and her people grew up. He had heard of gods and goddesses outside of his own culture, but this was his first time hearing the name Inanna. Was she a goddess, he wondered, or just the mortal founder of their culture? If she remained open to his conversation, he would surely find out.

He found her next words odd. She was not concerned with a stallion’s existence, only that her sisters were free to choose. What it was that they were free to choose, he wasn’t entirely sure. He flicked his still-damp tail idly, completely forsaking one gender over another would not get her far in lands such as these. After a brief few moments of contemplation ticked by, the mare spoke again. What did he choose? He snorted softly, unaware of the choice he was supposed to be choosing. “I choose to hear more about Inanna” was what he settled on, ”Could you tell me more about her ways?”He had always found other cultures interesting, even if he could not be converted.
