daughter of the stars

She is so used to the night, so comforted by it thick dark blanket that most others find disorienting or off putting. Despite the lack of the moon she can still see him in her own way, sense his presence and the outline of his form in the starlight. There is an anonymity the night gives allowing two such creatures who otherwise might never speak to one another the guise to converse more freely. His soft words tickle the night and her tall ears flick forwards to catch the nuances of his voice and when he does not speak to continue the conversation she is happy to let the silence drag on between them. Her bright eyes flick back up the constellations, nodding thoughtfully to them until his accented words break the darkness once more.

Turning her face back to him she studies what little she can see through the veil which is not much despite the galaxies that spin overhead. “Only if you do not know where to see the light.” Her soft voice muses airily as if that would somehow illuminate the world for him. She had spent countless nights in beneath their patterns learning of them and later from them. How many things they had taught her over the years? More than she would or could ever share she thought, though it was harder to find someone to listen.

Her tail flicked lazily as she shifted her weight as her azure eyes tracing the darkness of his form once more. “What brings you out into the night?” Most horses would be bedded down safe somewhere already, especially on a cool autumn evening such as this. Unless he was a star seer like she was, which she doubted, it had to be something else which had drawn him out beneath their welcoming blanket and as a collector of stories she interested to hear what exactly it was.
