As Zevulun pulled onto the dark fine-pebble beach of his birthhome, he felt more alive than ever. The chill in the air was much, much lower than it had been on Crossing Isle and he welcomed the feel of it against his wet skin. He turned, blue eyes bright as he sought out the beautiful Avalon, only then remembering she was not of Tinuvel’s elements and therefore not accustom to the chill. He smiled apologetically and shook out his coat, trying his best to dry himself at least a little before he drew close, allowing her to pull from his body warmth. “Sorry, I know it’s cold.” He wanted to look sympathetic, truly, but he couldn’t stop smiling. He was just too happy she’d agreed to come with him. He felt like an excited little boy, he wanted to kick up his heels and race her through the forests of his foalhood, showing her everything he’d ever found intriguing.
“We’ll go up into the trees; they block the worst of the wind.” He assured her. “If it gets too bad, I’ll find us that cave I promised.” He winked, chuckling as they moved up and further into his home.
Zevulun did not yet lead Avalon toward the area of the forest his sisters would be, though it wasn’t outright aversion. He knew Maziel would love Avalon as much as he did, and he knew Mariael would care for her because she was family. But… Zevulun knew Mariael was a bit to take in at times and he only hoped he could jest enough to keep the mood light and not make Avalon too nervous. Maybe he could warn her beforehand of Mariael’s… chillier disposition.
He reached out and tapped his muzzle against her shoulder, lipping her skin gently. Now that she was near enough, it felt as if he couldn’t stop himself from touching her even if he tried. This was intoxicating. His eyes were warm as they looked at her. “I’m so happy you came with me.”
