BE MY FRIEND, HOLD ME
WRAP ME UP, UNFOLD ME

It wasn’t long before Priya happened upon someone, or rather someone happened upon Priya.

The call grabbed her attention, and she paused in her wandering to turn her head in the direction of the sound. When she saw the stranger who approached, well, she nearly turned tail and ran right there and then. It was a huge mare who came first, soon followed by an even huger stallion. They both towered over her, leaving Priya staring up at them both, wide-eyed and speechless, her lips parted slightly.

They were the biggest creatures she had ever seen.

She was quite incapable of responding to either of the giant horses’ questions, no matter how cheerfully the big stallion commented on her ears, so she was almost thankful when yet another stranger arrived to take charge of the conversation instead.

This mare was a much more normal size, and her build was more familiar too – lithe and elegant, her desert breeding was obvious, although Priya’s eyes lingered on her ears which were undeniably straight. What where all these strange horses doing wandering around her homeland? Slowly, she was beginning to realise the sinking feeling that she might not be where she thought she was.

The Dunes. The words sounded distant in Priya’s ears as she stared blankly back at the mare, her gaze occasionally flicking between the strange group that had arranged itself around her. Then, before she could summon enough sense to form some words, another mare arrived – thankfully, another who did not look quite so intimidating as the giant pair beside her.

Valve. And this was her land.

Finally, the shock of these words seemed to jerk Priya back to life as she shook her head and focused her gaze on the dark mare who called these lands her own.

“I-I’m sorry,” she began, her voice wavering as it shuddered back into action. “I must be lost… I got all turned around in the sea… I thought I had come back towards home.” She looked nervously between the odd collection of individuals. “I didn’t mean to intrude. I’m Priya.”
