PERSEPHONE

Persephone chuckled as Aurora and Talya bantered. It would be fun to have these young women around, she was sure of that already. The Forest needed some new life breathing into it, and this little group seemed the perfect ones to do it.

Fate had been kind to her once again, it seemed.

Persephone nodded lightly at Aurora’s answer. A kind-hearted soul she seemed, it did not surprise her that she would be generous too. Bob seemed grateful enough for it, at least. She offered them both a pleasant smile. There was nothing for her to doubt in their story, as a stranger.

“Sometimes fate has a way of bringing horses together when they need it most,” she commented, turning to glance with a smirk at Talya rushing ahead, investigating the trees.

Bob’s words came as a surprise to Persephone, but a pleasant one indeed. They were delivered casually, but they hit a certain mark inside Persephone. She concealed their effect from her expression as best she could with a warm smile, but inside she squirmed a little with their weight.

“I am glad you think so,” she replied warmly, before turning her attention to his question before she could think on it any more. “It is only two seasons past now, but it feels longer. This place has become a home to me.”

She paused a moment, glancing between the three of them with a soft smile.

“I hope it can become the same for you all as well.”
