Nonw of rge aircraft bought by the RAAF A65 1 to 124 were DC3 but were C47a to serial 71 and were b models to 124. some a models were converted to b model but there appears to be no record of which ones were done.

over the DC3 the changes were at the factory strengthened floor, Astradome and two doors on the l/h side, the forward cargo did not interchange with the DC3. The engines were different on the DC3 and used to produce less HP.

The aircraft tended to be nose heavy when being flown empty and so a bag of sans was enough to get the trim right. There are several instances of C47's being blown over on their nose but litle dsmsge was done.

Next old time question not all the C130A aircraft were built exactly the same. What was the differance, why and what serials were involved.

Regards Col
