His moment of mental complaint was interrupted by the approach of a mare. Tall (taller than him), young (younger than him), and bulky built (bulkier than he, likely lending toward draft in her bloodline) she couldn’t have been further from Psychedelic than anyone else he’d yet to meet. He though briefly of the tall black mare with the strange nose he and Kendry had once met – but that mare had been even taller. Still, it was interesting this mare approached with wide, kind eyes, no hesitation in her step. One day he was going to have to get used to strange mares not avoiding him if he intended to keep up this charade.

“Uh, yeah,” he started, pulling from his thoughts. “I’m Bob.”

Ugh. I’ll still never get over you calling yourself Bob. You could have picked any name in the world like Sir Awesomeness and you picked BOB.

“My daughter and I joined Persephone’s herd along with a good friend at the middle of autumn.” If this mare hadn’t met Talya yet, she was in for a surprise. Psychedelic had a soft spot for his little girl, but he knew not everyone would tolerate her interesting behavior. He glanced around and narrowed his eyes at the snowfall covering the ground. “I would have preferred a place that’s a little less harsh in winter, but Persephone’s been good to us.” He sighed and shook his head. “I think I was meant to be one of those birds that migrate during the winter. Live somewhere warm while everyone else suffers in the snow and then come back when it’s all melted and the temperature is bearable.”

He was talking quite a bit, but it was suddenly nice to have company. At least talking with Silvanus meant he didn’t have to be left alone to his own thoughts. He knew where those circled back to and he wasn’t interested in driving himself any crazier constantly remembering those stories.
