BE MY FRIEND, HOLD ME
WRAP ME UP, UNFOLD ME

Priya’s expression was wary as she looked up at the giant mare when she addressed her, but the stranger’s words were kind and spoken gently. It would take time for her to be able to relax completely, but it settled her nerves somewhat to find that this Selenium didn’t seem to be planning to use her great size against her. The same seemed to go for her giant friend, Qadir, judging by his cheerful expression.

Reassured, Priya managed a small, nervous smile, and bobbed her head in greeting to the giants.

The golden mare’s expression was less cheerful. Although not unkind, the way she stared at her unnerved Priya. She felt as if the woman were trying to look into her very soul, to see if she had good intentions or not. Anxious, Priya attempted to assume an expression that suggested her intentions were good indeed, but the palomino’s attention soon returned to Valve. She seemed to serve the dark mare’s interests.

Relief flooded over her as Valve addressed her then. The Teke seemed to have a commanding presence, especially with the golden mare who backed her up, but the words that came from her mouth were kind and Priya managed a grateful smile to welcome them.

“Thank you so much, Valve, I-I would like that – to stay, I mean, for now at least,” she replied, ducking her head sheepishly.

There was no way she could find her way back home now, not without some kind of miracle. This mare seemed kind, and with her and her companion around these dunes seemed safe enough to stay in without any other plan.

Qadir’s words, then, were interesting. Another who used to live in a desert, although she hardly would have guessed it from his appearance. Her gaze flicked between him and Valve as she replied, her words concise but quite meaningful. She was intrigued to hear his response, too.
