my mind's like a deadly disease

After everything you’ve done, I can thank you for how strong I’ve become

Bickering, disagreements, fights, whatever you wanted to call it, Orkaan disliked it amongst his family. Perhaps he too was naive, naive in believing that as soon as he brought the twins to his home they would feel the same family bond that he so strongly did. Naive in the fact that he believed his heart was in the right place when he defended those who could not defend themselves. If so, the stag did not care. Pride kept him from truly admitting to it, it did not, however, keep him from hoping to reconcile with Phi and Dora. Of course he was lucky to have come across them apart from each other for once.

Although only a short time had passed, much had changed.

Amber optics searched Dora’s face as she greeted him, her vocals lacking the enthusiasm he had foolishly hoped for but her body language communicating that she was not completely closed off from him and turned from his company. That, at least, was a relief. For the briefest of moments the monochrome stallion longed for the feeling of Jaci’s lithe bodice beside his. Already she was a comforting presence, so willing to see the good in him, so willing to trust him as her King. With a shake of his head the brute pushed aside her snowy image and fixed his softened gaze on the beautiful, blue roan who stood before him. She and he may disagree but he believed he could still win her over. He had to win her over because he could not let her leave with a piece of him.

”I am happy to hear it. It is a thing only some can appreciate as there is a give and take with the harshness and beauty of it.”

An awkward pause filled the air as the tobiano male debated what he might or might not say. Should he tell her of the man who tried to steal her from him? As if the thought alone could trigger it, the aching in his lungs increased and the bruise along his barrel throbbed with pain, with it, the name. Shamwari. He had defended Dora, and perhaps that would count for something in her eyes, or maybe it would only serve to further push her away. Orkaan couldn’t be sure and while he knew he must tell her, he decided to daddle a bit. He simply wanted to enjoy her company, even if only a moment longer before they discussed such serious matters.

”There are a few new herd members about, I am sure you’ll meet them soon. I was so pleased to hear your desire for others in your home, that you want those relationships and the kinship. Some do not welcome it so freely. But, I have great faith that you will all love one another.” Smiling, the hellion bobbed his head, yet it felt strained. Small talk would not suffice.

”I’m sorry Dora, for our differing views. I cannot promise you I will never do again what I’ve done because I feel in my heart it was right. I can, however, promise that I will be honest with you. I do not desire to keep secrets from my family. I do not wish to rule over a land filled with those who do not want to be here. I want to be close to you. I enjoy your smile, your bright energy. I want to be clear. I am sorry for any hurt my decisions may cause, but I am a King and there are choices I will have to make throughout my life. Some you may like and others you may not.”

Lowering his crown slightly, the titan took a cautious step closer to the roan mare, eyes pleading for understanding.
