Brothers. If there was one thing Aarushi understood well, it was living where family lived (of course, she did not realize Jaxon meant brothers in the comradery sense of the term). It had been she and Aadhira since the day they’d first blinked into creation, growing within the same womb and sharing every breath together. Aarushi would live nowhere without Aadhira and she knew Aadhira would live nowhere without her. He couldn’t; it wasn’t safe for him.

As if sensing her thoughts, Aadhira’s tail twitched, long black strands lazily tapping against her back legs for how close they stood. He kept his eyes watchful on their company – Jaxon – but still said nothing. Aarushi did nothing to pull him into the spotlight. This was how their days worked best and how she kept him alive. Aadhira followed her lead and Aarushi steered them to no wrong.

“There are many here?” She commented with a lift to her voice, making it a question, but knew her assumption was correct – the signs of equine life were everywhere from clumps of hair to earth packed down by hooves to grass overgrazed in most of the nearby area. Her attention returned to Jaxon.

“I am uncertain if we may stay.” Aadhira’s presence pressed on her mind. She knew he was tired of the endless travels, but they had to make certain they were far enough from home before they stopped. With Jaxon’s unique dialect, Aadhira thought they had come far enough. “Would you suggest these islands as somewhere to live?” She asked him pointedly, looking firmly into his gaze, studying to see if there was any brief moment of hesitation. If there seemed any reason she and Aarushi should not live on these islands (for they had seen the distant shapes of others far away), Aadhira would drive her brother back into the ocean and on they would go until at last they’d found somewhere she was comfortable enough to stop at.
