At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

A Promise Was Made

Her delicate lips parted before him and though he could not hear her heart beat as a vampire could, he could feel her excitment, nearly hear her thoughts. Drizzt was just only now learning the new gifts that his transformation had given him, and the first was that his vision granted him something different and wonderful. He could see this brindled angel in delicate and delectable detail, and as she breathed, his pools caught onto the motion of each and every one of her hairs. But it was more than that - he could nearly see the air move out of her maw in a slow wave of particles. Still... there was something further... Drizzt furrowed his brow and focused, thinking about her and only her... and there it was. His lids widened in shock and awe as the aura around her exploded into a brilliant display of color. She had a sadness, a loneliness within her built up due to pain after pain after pain, a thick blue wall of bricks surrounding her like a shield. But within it was the sweet pink of a fluttering heart, a desire for love and acceptance, something she had yet to be given. She had wanted it from her father, but in her thoughts of him there was only a darkness, a swirling fog that was impenetrable, yet Drizzt knew storms raged within that dark abyss. But even as he saw this all, he saw too a thinning of that wall. A lightening of its shade and a swelling of the heart.

'You wonderful handsome creature.' It was not quite a cry of release, but had at least some significant cracks in her wall. Perhaps there would not be a flood of emotion gushing free, but if Drizzt could help her, he would. And that sentence, or rather any sentence she spoke did not truly matter - it was what was behind it that mattered, the emotion. He understood now - thought he could see glimpses of others, he could feel what his Soulmate was feeling. He could see the emotions, clear as day and it was so... odd. Yet somehow it made perfect sense. 'You are in luck! For I have courted many times, and I am always successful.' Drizzt swallowed - she was experienced... and he most assuredly was not. Would he be a disappointment to her? Would she grow tired of his young, naive innocence? Would he ever get the hang of... anything? How would he know if he... worked?...

She moved closer to him and Drizzt swallowed. He had been worried about her believing him, for who still believed in magic in this day and age? And yet she had accepted his every word without question, but more than that was now pushing him in the opposite direction of innocence. Not that he minded... but he had only one friend in the world, and had never had a girlfriend before. He was at a loss. And he didn't love her yet - he knew that he would by looking at her, by drinking in the full image of her and by Fenris her perfume surely was intoxicating. She took another step closer and like a drug her scent washed over him and became all consuming, and just as simply as that, she had every single one of his thoughts tamed and trained upon her. Drizzt froze, not wanting to a single thing wrong, he wanted everything to be perfect for her. Then her soft fur enveloped his face, and if he had thought she was potent before... he did not even have words for her now. She was a vixen, a goddess, an angel. She would fill him and complete him, already she was a part of him. She leaned down and whispered in his audette and Drizzt quivered and felt an immediate full blown firing of every piston. They were on top speed now and it was dangerous, for Drizzt knew nothing of what was happening. His breath came in gasps as he struggled for breath but suddenly everything slowed and calmed as her purring ceased and she instead ran her tongue across his brow, sweeping his hairs up and to the wrong angle. She had pulled away ever so slightly and now laughed before asking as to what he desired. "Well, angel mine, I know only one game. I was separated at a young age from my siblings, but I know 'Chase.' You say you have courted many timbers, perhaps it is time you be chased..." Her murmured the words, hoping it was the right thing to say, that it wouldn't offend her or upset her. He craved her attention, her acceptance and could only hope she actually meant 'playing'... or at least playing that that ended in something else...
