even though we may be hopeless hearts
just passing through

Jaci is day dreaming.

She is dreaming off far off places, places where the impossible becomes possible. Where snow tastes like cotton candy, but sparkles like diamonds, places that have no fear, no limits, but kindness, love and beauty. That is what she is dreaming of, until her imaginative mind takes her some where else, more familiar. A mountain top, where the stars are so close that one need only reach out to grasp ahold of the sparkling beauties of the night, the moon shines down, lighting upon her paleface, whispering stories of long ago. Her mother with the red hair and blue eyes looks to her daughter as white as fallen snow, and presses her muzzle in the space between her pale, fuzzy ear and her baby blue eye. And then her mind drifts again, to Jaci’s new home of ice and snow: the Inlet. She thinks of Orkaan, Zephyra, and Vita Nova, and the one she has yet to meet, Nymphadora. Her heart flutters inside her chest. This is what she wanted, to meet others of the world, others who did not grow up on the side of the mountain Jaci had been born upon. Those who have stepped in the footsteps of a different life. Jaci wants to know what it is like to not be Jaci, she wants to know more about the world, she was hungry for it.

The girl who had a coat of fallen snow and a voice like a songbird, moves leisurely in the Falls. She had heard this land was peaceful and quiet. Though she dreams of new faces, Jaci could not resist the call to see a waterfall. There had been waterfalls in her spacious mountain home, but non as tranquil yet roaring and powerful as the one she stands before.

“Beautiful,” comes her melodic voice, that single word cascading passed pink lips, falling into the frigid temperatures of winter just as the water creeps over the edge of the falls and rushes downwards. Her breath comes in icy plumes, surrounding her pink muzzle and pale whiskers as baby blues cannot tear themselves away from the sight, too entranced by the beauty of it.

Pale, short ears tip backwards as the sound of tiny feet on iced over snow catches her attention. She turns her eyes, that are blue like the sky on this near cloudless day, behind her, and she catches sight of a fuzzy, white bunny, bouncing through the snow, either unaware of Jaci’s presence or it knew she was certainly no threat. Slowly, carefully, she swings her small, slender frame around to face the fluffy stranger. She lowers her dished face, big blue eyes grow wider still as her excitement grows, but she attempts to slow all of her movements as to not startle the small creature. One step at a time she moves closer, but she took one step too much and in the blink of an eye the rabbit sprints away, its fluffy, white, cotton ball tail the last sight Jaci sees. Oh she cannot help it then and her tinkling, silvery laughter escorts itself across the plains of her smiling lips. It was a beautiful thing to laugh on the frosted winter day. But she thinks of she would love to share it with someone.
