GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
Live through this lie

Was I left behind?
Tell me, tell me I survived.

Snow had been a light visitor this winter. It did not manage to blanket the terrain's vast and rolling hills as it had in previous years. Instead, the snow clumped together in hard patches, mostly in the low lying valleys and along the riverbank toward the west end near the border with the Forest. The reeds had long lost their healthy and vibrant golden color. In the chillier temperatures, they wilted like most other vegetation, eventually becoming brown with death, and hard and stiff to eat. After two unexpected trips to Tinuvel this season, I am not complaining about the weather at home. The mild conditions was just one of the many benefits of living on Luthien.

The ground wasn't hard with freeze. Instead it was soft and bubbling, brimming with moisture to the point that it created worn, soaking trails of mud wherever I went. The cold, sopping dirt clung to the firey red hairs that wrapped around my cannon bones. There it dried and caked. Those filthy legs carried me across the familiar trails of the borders of my home, where I set out each morning and revisited each evening. The herd, for the most part, was still bed down just as the orange glow of the sun began to cascade across the open plains. That was my cue to begin the day, and thus, I moved with haste through the muck and reeds, hill after hill. As I crest the last hill leading me back toward the herd, I pause to watch Stargazer emerge, walking briskly out through the morning dew.

I quietly watch her from afar for some time. When she arrived the Prairie unannounced, I was too distracted by my family's ongoing issues to be too welcoming or adoring toward her. She was welcome here, of course. I know Bri had taken a liking to her, or at least was making sure she wasn't lost of the scuffle of everything. But I was past due to actually get to know this mare, if she did indeed wish to part of our family in a more permanent fashion. So I urge my heaving frame forward, taking careful strides down the slick slope, and only picking up a two-beat trot once I was on more level ground. I nicker to her, my relative hushed call streaking across the quiet distance between us. My matted brown mane lapped gently against my thick neck as I approached. I bob my head as I slow back to a walk as I near her, and watch again for a moment before stepping closer. "Good morning." I say gruffly, flicking my tail idly over my haunches, and pawing lazily with a forehoof at a patch of mud and dead reeds at the ground under my feet.

OOC: So sorry they haven't actually threaded yet... I was waiting for Shiva in the thread down below before introducing Sham! But this works too :)
