The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

THE LAST SON OF STELLA & ELIJAH

There was a pregnant silence that filled the cavernous room after Grimoire had finished introducing her secretive plot to the few mercs. In truth, Dirge was surprised that no more than the three of them showed - minus the reclusive and nearly forgotten girl in the shadows. It either meant that there were so few left in the profession or that all others were too daunted by such a task. Spineless and not worth the penny they would be paid, in his opinion. But he could handle going up against or working along his sequestered half-brother for the sake of having a task again. It seems like it had been forever since his last job in the field; Moladion wasn’t so eager to get down and dirty like the rest of the world. This woman may change that.

His gold and green eyes pinned upon his striped sibling as his voice broke the quiet that had settled between them, then to the female as she addressed which order they will be met in. He followed the pair of them, Grimoire and Segin, as they shuffled off into a private corridor of the caves for a short while. Their voices were muffled but echoed between the barren rocks that held up this place until they were finished. Shortly thereafter, they emerged and he was summoned by a pink gaze shot in his direction, to which he solemnly accepted and followed her into the same room.

She had settled herself by the time he came onto the quiet scene, her dark tail curved neatly by her paws as she sat poised and waiting for him to take a place. Her roseate eyes regarded him in a way that he had witnessed other females of her nature. They were bold enough to drink in the strength upon his stature and the vigor that pulsed beneath his flesh. But he had never so much as given them a second glance in return. For Grimoire he would give her his attention as long as necessary for a deal to be agreed upon; if they could not come to terms then he had no qualms with walking away.

He stops before her and remains standing as he relaxed the muscles in his shoulders and neck. He was convinced that no one here was a direct threat to him at this point and so he could get a little more comfortable, especially now that the two of them were alone. Her words had him raising one brow only slightly while the rest of his face remained rather expressionless. It was common that she wanted to know of his name but she was smart to ask where his allegiance would lie if worse came to worse.

There was a long pause before his baritone chords replied to her rather curtly. ”My loyalty has and will always be to myself and what I want.” Another more brief pause broke up his speech. ”Diveen has something that I’ve been searching for and so I offer them my services in return. You can offer me something as well, can you not?” It’s just a matter of what exactly it is that will pique his interest enough to keep him around. ”The funny thing about mercs is that they can be bought whereas others will retain their relationships and loyalties to others. I have no individual who I owe my fealty to,” his rough voice echoes low against the walls of the grotto. ”And my name is Dirge.” Darkened gold and green eyes flick across to her as he adds a piece of information not to be forgotten. In honest, he disliked his name very much. It were as if his mother knew he would be the curse to end her life; an elegy to her death. An emotionally masked tenebrosity overwhelmed his gaze as he shifted his focus away from the female, his brows knitting together in a stern manner as he made a short pace toward the other side of the room. ”What will you assign me if I were to accept your mission?” his voice comes out gruffly as he faced away from her now, his handsome head hung low as he looked into the shadows.

why does destruction taste so sweet?
