A friend who lives in that area says that mountain lions have always lived there despite government claims to the contrary.

As for bears, I saw a mama and her 2 cubs while tracking (sport tracking) my dogs in nearby Dunstable on September 2 at around 9/30 AM. Thankfully they were maybe 100+ yards away and headed away from me (and my tracking partner friends).
