A sense of calm washed over the first-time mother as she and her newborn daughter moved slowly through the forested terrain of the Inlet. Despite a general weariness in the aftermath of labor, Vita Nova was surprising spry and bright. She didn't feel as nervous as she anticipated she would be. She didn't regret having met Fallo that night like she told herself she did for so many months. When she looked down at her quiet girl, she felt a strong surge of pride. As if this is what she was meant to do all along. Nephilim was a test. Koray was a test. Even Fallo, to some degree, was preparing her for this. And perhaps Orkaan came to her at just the right time, to support her in this endeavor.
When Nova spied the herd in the distance, she whinnied wildly to the group, her call full of glee, albeit somewhat muted from her exhaustion. She wanted to show off her filly to all of them. She wished to walk back into the herd, her chest puffed with pride, with her healthy, beautiful filly at her side. When Orkaan approaches them, she returns his smile with one of her own. "Orkaan." She greeted him quietly, tossing her head proudly.
Nyah staggered around Nova, but never strayed too far. As the painted stallion approached, Nova dropped her muzzle to her daughter's rump, taking in her fresh new scent. She nickered warmly to her daughter as she felt her press against her side, hiding herself somewhat, from the approaching painted stallion. "This is Nyah. Why don't you say hello to Orkaan?" She said softly, her gaze hovering on the stallion for a second before her head dropped low, and she touched her nose to the filly's chest.
"We're both fine. Healthy, just a bit tired." She says sheepishly, but still smiling at the stallion in front of her. Vita Nova wondered briefly if now was the time to tell Orkaan that the filly wasn't Koray's. She wondered if she would tell him in the name of Nyah's sire at all. She did, of course, plan to seek out Fallo when Nyah was old and healthy enough to travel to the Crossing Isle. But for now, she was appreciative of Orkaan's interest, and his protection.
