I am the razor in the hands of your heart;
And I am the razor in the hands of God.
Evaline was grateful to watch the large orange mass of the burning sun begin to set beyond the horizon. While the oasis provided a much needed relief from the elements for the aging golden mare, she was craving the kind of weather that came when the sun was gone, and the temperatures that plummeted with it. When Valve appeared in the distance, Evaline's somewhat tiresome facade disappeared. She perked up, her rich chocolate eyes brightening as they focused on the black mare's slender frame. Valve was radiant as ever, especially cast in the last of the day's light. A furious heat rose in Evaline's chest, causing her heart to beat faster, and shoot that warmth through her extremities. Just being close to Valve made Evaline feel 10 years younger. The golden mare's nostrils flared as she searched for Valve's scent, and a chill ran down the length of her spine as she received it.
It was true, that various matters had kept the pair a part in recent weeks. While Evaline always obediently returned home to Salem, it was Valve who was gone at odd hours, dealing with the various responsibilities required of her to keep a general sense of peace in the Dunes. Evaline would never complain openly about her long stints away from home, she understood why Valve was away. But Evaline would be lying if she said she wasn't disgruntled by it. For such a long stretch, Evaline and Valve lived quietly in the Dunes by themselves. That seemingly ended when Evaline left to dispose of the colt on the mainlands. There had been so many visitors since then, and a few of them stuck around. That meant Valve was responsible for them too, and that her time to be left alone with Evaline was shortening.
Evaline tried not to quiver in Valve's presence when she spoke to her in her native tongue. She rarely understood any of it, only the few phrases she'd asked Valve about specifically in the past. But when Valve chose to greet her with such exotic notes, it made Evaline that much weaker for her. She nickered warmly in response. "How are you?" She asked, a genuinely kind smile plastered against her pink lips. Valve was aware of her trips to the Prairie. She knew of Shamwari's win against Koray and what had happened to Vita Nova there. "I have something of interest to share with you." She teases her with, one ear swiveling forward and then the other. "Walk with me?"
