It has come to my attention that a proposal has been made to Barrie City Council last week by a local Barrie businessman to build a Sports/event Stadium on the site of the naturalized area to the east of the Community Centre on the Southshore of the Bay. This area is frequented by thousands of Barrie residents for its tranquility and natural beauty. As well it is home to a great deal of wildlife and flora and many birds. To see it turned over to stadiums, bright lights, noise and light pollution would be a dreadful loss. I would like the word to get out that there is probably going to be a feasibility study by the city and we need to express our concern to the Council.
