Ruger stallion | 15.3hh | EE aa TT | son of the wolf Ruger had not allowed himself to think of her in quite some time, keeping the mare hidden in the back of his mind so as not to hinder him from his day to day life. There were too many things to focus on, too many other stallions that may want the upper hand on him and could use that against him. But for what? Ruger held no high ranks, no property or anything of value. All done purposely of course, as he held no interest or drive for anything more than he had. Not since she was gone. Closing his eyes as he tried to block out the sound of the night; the soft sway of tall grass, the chirping of crickets and other equines lingering under the moonlight. Ruger could still see her, his beloved Zimri. But every time he pictured her gorgeous dark face it contorted to the expression of fear and the sound of battle. Opening his eyes and shoving the thought away, Ruger raised his crown and looked out across the meadow. The glint of moonlight made his golden eyes seem to glow, appearing more lupine just as his father’s always had. Giving a harsh snort, Ruger snapped his tail angrily from one flank to the other as he left his shadowed spot beneath a tree and headed over to a small dip that created a pond. It would be dried up before summers end, but for now it still held a small pool of water. He did not care to check his surroundings first, but lowered his head so his lips could touch the surface and the cooling liquid could slide down his throat and slack his thirst. If only his memories could be eased so simply. |
