Never mind a hint of honor,
or a single note of grace,
or a faint glimmer of wisdom,
or a pale ray of insight.
All of these are missing,
no sign of any whatsoever,
but the most disturbing void
is the vacuum of decency.
Not a shred of decency
and no attempt, not a scrap.
Of this most basic human
attribute, there is none.
A desolate black hole
absolute in its nothingness;
in its place, open hostility
to the mere possibility.
