The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Sekhmet had been absent from the southern regions of Moladion more and more as the seasons turned colder. She knew that her friend loved the frigidness and solitude of the tundra but Myrria couldn’t follow her. She had spent years stuck in that wasteland just north of Lumira and didn’t care to spend any more time near that hell. Instead, she had patched things up with Malleah and was slowly integrating herself back into her family’s life. There was still a strange tension and wariness when around Exodus but Myrria had done well to avoid him most of the time; even if that meant not visiting with Lucia or Malleah.

There were still so many questions that she had for Malleah but what had nearly struck her down was the fact that her father had not abandoned either of them when she was little. She knew that all of the details weren’t divulged but the important part was that Myrria knew the truth after so long; she could finally have her closure. Carnifex had risked his life and ultimately lost it because of his love for Malleah and the need to enact vengeance for her sake. Despite the horridness of it all she felt a strange feeling of peace after being told of his fate.

Now she has returned to somewhat of a normal routine, reclaiming the dusty den above her family and also keeping a secret home among the caverns in moments where she needs to get away. The cautionary words of her mother constantly came back to her as she pondered her most recent epiphany. She rests calmly atop the rocks today as her deep wine colored eyes scan across the land beneath her. At times she is ill at ease with the fact that she cannot see out of her left eye, today being one of those instances. She lifts a paw to scratch at it, wanting to feel some sort of sensation around the useless orb, until she catches a glimpse of a familiarly dark figure descending upon the caverns. Her paw drops to the stone and her figure is alert as she watches silently while Exodus makes his way down into the cold grotto.

An exasperated sigh is given at the thought of him but she knows that there is much to be discussed with the older male. With a feeling of regret already welling inside her, she lifts herself to her pale gray paws and follows after him down the rocks and into the dark of the caves. He seemed overly cautious to her, as if he had hardly visited the underground realm beneath their home, and she found it to be rather comical. Quietly, she sneaks up behind him, taking shallow breaths and careful steps to remain undetected until the very last few feet between them. ”Afraid of the shadows?” her voice booms behind him and off the walls as she stands to attention, waiting for him to turn around and meet her with that golden gaze.
