Her ears twitch at Talya’s offended tone, so she knows she’s not looking at the right spot. She doesn’t move her head, however, figuring that trying to keep track of her friend without her eyes to guide her will just make her dizzy. She definitely doesn’t need to risk running into another tree.

She does find it amusing that Talya has decided that the tree is a boy. She wishes she could see the look on the girl’s face, imagining her all puffed up and practically ready to headbutt the tree in retaliation. Her heart warms at the thought of someone other than her parents ready to defend her, even if this time there’s technically nothing to defend her from.

She knows that Talya’s question is rhetorical, but she answers, ”Yes,” anyway. She prefers the way Talya talks about her eyes rather than how some of the older adults consider it. The thunder has been rumbling steadily closer, though Talya has proven a good distraction and Aurora’s almost surprised at how close it seems by the time the filly sidles up to her to lead her to shelter.

”Just watch that he doesn’t have accomplices,” she jokes. ”It wouldn’t do for you to run into one too.”

Their movement is easy; the spot she’d stumbled to seems to be clear of ankle-hating brambles. She trusts Talya to guide her to a better location, though she isn’t sure exactly how much cover there’ll be. She has a feeling that Talya would love nothing more than to play around in a thunderstorm. If the day had gone differently, Aurora may have wanted to do so as well, and she and Talya running into each other would have resulted in much more fun and much less of a rescue effort.

Still, whether Talya ends up staying with her through the storm or not, it has already been quite the memorable day. If she had other friends, she’s sure they would laugh when she told this tale.
