At the moment that the whole landscape is bathed in golden light, she is distracted from her father and the stranger. Her blue eyes widen as she takes in the full beauty of it. She may have to come back here every day just to see it, forgetting that when she gets home, she’s likely to be grounded for a while.
She’s young enough that there is no warning from her mind to pay attention to the others so that she doesn’t get caught. Therefore, she misses the mare’s response to Zevulun and doesn’t realize that she’s been spotted. She’s so easily excitable that her attention wanders often, and she has almost already forgotten what she’s doing here. Her eyes dart around, looking for anything interesting, when her father’s voice finally gets through to her.
Her head whips around, smiling brightly when her eyes meet his identical pair. ”Hi, Papa!” She squints slightly when he shifts and the sun glints off his pale form, but she takes the movement as an invitation to move closer. She prances over to him and butts her head against his chest. ”I wanted to see where you were going so early,” she explains, her voice slightly muffled.
She looks up at him, eyes wide, hoping he isn’t about to demand she return to the Bay. She turns to the mare and says, ”Hello!” before turning back to her father and saying matter-of-factly, ”She’s gonna be really mad.”
Because she hadn’t been paying attention to the conversation, she looks back at the mare to launch into usual exuberant self. ”Did you just get here? Mama and I met someone who didn’t know anything about the islands!” She still can’t believe Io hadn’t known anything about the only place that Izizel has ever known. ”Papa and I have always been here – we can show you if you want.” |
