She had received her task and set out immediately, watching the borders of Asteraia closely. The pack seemed to be covered with unease, uncertainty. It was a few days after the news of Halcyon's abdication had reached her that a victorious call came from deep within the plains. Adonai tilted her head, ears forward as she listened to the unique tones. It was a voice she had heard before, one that called for her grandfather's paramour Nari. How... curious. From what she could recall, the male had hung around Glorall unannounced for some time, his scent crisscrossing the borders as he sought the mute warrioress. You learned a lot of things, watching. Perhaps it was a strange and lonesome pasttime, but it was useful...
Adonai watched the border as the noble call settled across the land, and after a little while, she could make out the distant form of a female and her pups leaving. She tilted her head, creeping forward just slightly, enough to get a better look at the woman-- from description, she figured that she must be Aster, former Empress of Asteraia and a personal enemy of her grandfather. So, in the wake of her mate's departure, and the rise of another to the throne of her former kingdom, the fiery Queen found herself leaving, too. The girl supposed it was only fair. Her run-in with Eden must have been something of an embarrassment, a stain on her otherwise Queenly reign. With Halcyon gone off somewhere else entirely, perhaps she felt little connection to the plains. Either way, she was in no position to judge. A few others trickled out after the dethroned Queen, but no one notable she could make out. She waited for some time until Aster and her entourage disappeared over the southwest horizon, and slipped away from her grassy knoll.
There were enough uncertainties being thrown around that Adonai figured she may as well go straight to the source. He must be a busy man, but hopefully not busy enough that he would ignore a call for him on his newfound borders. What if she was some sort of usurper, or some sort of assassin? The very thought of her being labelled a regicide made her smirk. What good was a dead leader? Eden must want to unblemish his reputation in the eyes of the plains wolves, and no martyr made for good conversation.
Adonai trotted down towards the border of Asteraia, still containing notes of Halcyon and Aster's scents. She wondered how long it would take for them to truly disappear. The history of the plains were complex, this much she knew, and perhaps this male would be the one to bring it stability. Ah, but what did she know? She was just a young woman with an important job. Her head tilted back and she let out an eerie call, carried through the hills on a gust of winter wind. The new King of Asteraia had been summoned, and now she must wait. Impatience, luckily, had never been one of her character traits. Adonai sat, tucking her tail neatly around her front paws, and let her icy eyes wander until she might spot that white form cresting the hilltops.
