This is no ordinary love

Nova watched with half-interest as Nyah frolicked in the dying grass, snow and dirt. The steely-colored mare with the blanket patch of white at her rump stood solemnly in the sun, trying her best to bask in its rays, even if she wasn't terribly bothered by the weather. After all, she'd spent last winter morbidly pregnant in the Inlet and survived. And now she lived on a damn mountain top, of all things. But she was from the Prairie. As such, she preferred the warmth and the sunshine to the dreary weather on this particular day. But Nyah, on the other hand, seemed to love it.

Vita Nova had less of an interest in wandering back to the Peak on this day, or the series of them that came before this one as of late. With Oswin being held captive in the Lagoon, she was essentially back to square one: alone. The Peak felt like just any other place on the Crossing Isle without her sister there. And while she helped pitch in by looking after Oswin's daughter Klara from time to time, Nova was growing more restless and depressed as the winter season wore on.

Her mind drifted to her family and friends on other islands all the time. Evaline and Valve in the Dunes. Even Paradiso, wherever he was these days. Shamwari and Bri. And of course, Evren. Her heart fluttered with worry when she thought about the last memory she had of her painted friend. Evren was going up against Orkaan to fight for her freedom. Orkaan was the only one who returned, but shortly after, he disappeared too. Nova was too afraid to step foot in the Desert again to find out if Evren was alright. But her heart tied itself in knots when she thought about her friend a little too long.

Vita Nova lets out a long, bored sigh, heavy plumes from her exhale evaporating in the sky. "Alright Nyah, it's time to go." She calls out to her daughter, whose face scrunches into a pout immediately. Nova rolls her blue eyes and sighs again. "Don't make me tell you again young lady." She says with the flick of her long grey tail. She turns swiftly on her haunches to begin the march to collect her daughter when the frame of another horse appears in the distance and causes her to stop dead in her tracks.

The mare's eyes widen as she studies the familiar color patterns of her friend's two-toned coat. "Evren!" She shouts before her brain has been truly convinced that the horse she's seeing is real, and is really her friend. "Is that you?"

ooc: I don't really have a firm plan for Nova yet. She's just sort of mingling about and I don't know what I'm going to do with the foal either. But at some point, they need to separate since I'm not actually playing Nyah. :/ The Prairie isn't really her first choice, but it's the only place she feels like she can go right now. She'd be much happier to go home with Evren though. And perhaps she could help poke or smooth over the Shamwari drama?
