“I’m glad to hear it,” Persephone replied with a smile, although her expression creased a little in concern at the mention of the Inlet’s absent leader.

“Yes,” she agreed with a small frown. “The Inlet seems to have trouble keeping a leader… I have tried to meet with the last couple residents but no one seems to have lasted long. I’m glad Tinuvel has you as a constant, at least.”

Persephone shot her companion a small smile, before she continued with her tale. Salem – so they had business interests in common too, it seemed. There was no time to discuss that, however, as Mariael spoke about her family. Persephone found herself suddenly touched by the deep roots that ran through this land she had settled on – not all of them organic.

“I’m sorry,” she replied simply, a small dip of her head in consolation. “I know how a lack of closure can leave wounds slow to heal. Please, feel free to come and go here as you please – a friend is always welcome in the Forest.”

Persephone’s dark eyes sought Mariael’s, to let her know she meant it.
